L’agence d’idols, Around Us Entertainment, a déclaré: "Son Dongwoon s’est enrôlé dans le silence, renvoyé par sa famille et les employés de l’agence vers 14 heures (KST) et a promis de s’acquitter de ses fonctions militaires de manière exemplaire et exemplaire" .

L'agence a poursuivi: "Nous vous demandons votre compréhension, car nous ne révélons pas le lieu ou le moment de l'enrôlement de Son Dongwoon en raison de son désir de s'enrôler en silence."

Son Dongwoon est le dernier membre de Highlight à s'enrôler dans l'armée, après Yoon Doojoon qui s'est enrôlé en août 2018, Yang Yoseob en janvier et Lee Gikwang en avril.
